Happy Independence Day to you and yours.  We decided this year to celebrate on the 5th to turn it into a 3-day weekend.  We are working today.

As you can see in the photo, Brad and Jason are bringing some color into the office.  In Brad’s case, it’s a Chickenpalooza shirt from Royal Farm Stores, which he received as a gift from yours truly.  We are all waiting with bated breath to watch him cross the road and question him about his motive for doing it.

(On a side note, Gary arrived at the office today before 6 am, bringing two eggs with him for breakfast. Brad, standing in for “the chicken”, arrived about an hour later, and we think that settles the age-old question.)

Jason is wearing a shirt that borrows liberally from the Stars and Stripes on a day when it’s most appropriate and symbolizes the spirit of Pendant.  We’re grateful that we are free to “pursue happiness” by finding other companies with whom we can engage in productive relationships. Our clients, our team members, our suppliers, and the communities in which we live and work all benefit.

We’re fully aware that in our current, highly charged environment, there are many viewpoints (as spelled out in this excellent article WSJ on the Declaration ). Some dissenters say that we cannot ignore our history, and I highly agree. I only ask those people to follow their own advice, and view the entirety of our history. If you do that objectively, we think you’ll find many, many more reasons to be proud than otherwise.

Have a safe and happy 4th!
